The placement of security cameras, generally, is not open to public debate. The images taken by them frequently show figures in public space, but those images are off limits to their subjects. Taking a cue from the way ornithologists and climate scientists rely on data provided by amateur birdwatching enthusiasts, this project hopes to incite a culture of “camera watching” - defusing the intimidating power of security cameras and promoting the viewer as an expert in the documentation of their daily walks through public spaces.
